Want to help a Lab? You've come to the right place.

If you’re reading this right now, you’re probably a pretty cool person who wants to make the world better. Well, you’ve come to the right place! There are lots of ways that you can help LOLIN in our efforts to save Labs and make happy homes. Below are some of the ways you can make a difference.

  • Fostering

Fostering a Lab can be an amazing experience! Full disclosure: it can also be a lot of work, but the payoff is huge. You’d be helping a rescue dog adjust to civilized life, while you sit back and wait for the perfect family to come along and watch as they fall in love with that dog and give it a permanent happy home. There’s nothing like it!

The number of dogs we can rescue is directly impacted by the number of foster families we have who are willing to help take these dogs into their homes. If you’d like to help, visit our Foster page for more information on fostering and to fill out the Fostering Application.

  • Transporting

Do you like road trips? Have you ever wanted to have a car full of cute doggies who smell bad and are covered in questionable substances? Friend, do we have a volunteer job for you! You are a perfect candidate for the exciting world of dog transport!

We frequently work with shelters in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. Many shelters won’t keep dogs for very long, so we have to get them out of the shelters and into foster homes ASAP to save their lives. When dogs are transported from a shelter to a veterinarian or a foster home, it may require trips of several hours each way. We need volunteers at various times to help transport these dogs. When we have more volunteers that can meet each other and swap out the driving time, there’s less driving for everyone.

If you’re interested in being a transport driver, all you need is a car (preferably with a dog crate or two in it) and a few basic supplies: an extra leash and collar, paper towels, plastic bags, sheets, doggie wipes, hand sanitizer, newspaper, water bowls, water, cell phone, camera, and some treats.

  • Performing Home Visits

Before we place any dog in an adoptive home, we send a volunteer to the home to check that it is a safe and loving environment for our dog. Home visits take up to an hour to complete. We’ll work with all volunteers to help them feel comfortable doing home checks and provide a form to follow.

We desperately need help in the following areas: All of Southern Indiana particularly the Bloomington, Jeffersonville, and Columbus regions; and much of Northern Indiana particularly the Lafayette, Ft. Wayne, and Merrillville regions.

  • Attending LOLIN Special Events

Occasionally LOLIN puts on special events to help raise money. When you attend these events, you get cool products and services and LOLIN gets money to help rescue more dogs. It is a win-win situation! Below are details on two of our big events:

    Labapalooza
Every September, dog lovers, LOLIN alumni, and lovers of wine and music get together to celebrate the many lives saved in animal rescue. There is food, vendors selling dog products, music, games, and best of all dogs galore! Due to the pandemic, the 2020 Labapalooza will be an Online Auction and takes place in October. Please visit the Events Page for more information.

    Paw Washes
Occasionally, LOLIN sponsors a dog wash in the Indianapolis area. Just bring your stinky dog in and, for a small fee, you get a clean dog!

Email volunteer@lolin.org if you are interested in finding out more information about any of these activities. We’d love to have you join our family! Note: If you are volunteering to foster, please use the Fostering Application instead of the application below.
