Meet a Dog
How to find your new best friend.
Once approved, you can request to met a specific dog you see on our website, but there are often several families interested in the same dog. A dog you have your heart set on when you applied may have been adopted before you are approved. We will not hold a dog for you while you are completing the application approval process. New Labs arrive almost every week. In some cases, the Lab you want to meet may not have the personality you need, and if that is the case, we will tell you why and encourage you to keep looking. Our foster families know our dogs better than anyone and will provide insight into what environment is best for their foster dog. Just because a particular dog is not the best match for you or your family does NOT mean you won’t provide a great home for the right dog.
Remember, adopting a dog is a lifelong commitment. If you question whether you can make such a commitment, please stop here. Our rescues have often had a difficult life, so when we place a LOLIN dog in a home, we want it to be their forever home.
Request to Meet a Dog
After you receive an email from the adoption coordinator indicating that you have been approved, you are ready to start meeting dogs!
If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, you should quickly send a request to the email address given in your approval email. Other forms of communication (Petfinder inquiry, Facebook message, phone call, etc.) will not be considered as notification of your interest in a dog.
When we receive an email from you, we will confirm that you have expressed interest in the dog and let you know the status of the dog. If the dog is available, the foster will contact you to schedule a meet and greet.
We encourage you to go to the foster’s home for the meeting, so that you can see the dog in an atmosphere where they are most comfortable. This allows you to get a better glimpse of their real personality.
NOTE: During the pandemic, we will provide you with specific instructions for meeting the dog in a safe manner.
