I use to say a dog’s short life was the hardest part about making them your best friend, but now I know it’s actually the biggest gift. My Chick, Nala taught me that.  For 11 years, Nala and I did everything together. As a tiny puppy she followed me from room to room, unable to relax unless we were snuggled up together. That is how our journey came to an end. Snuggled in my arms for one last time. I gave my best to her for 11 years and in return she gave me her entire life. Excitedly charging into unknown. Living each moment with unmatched passion and enthusiasm.

These friends, sidekicks, copilots, adventure buddies and fur babies of ours never live as long as we wish, but I’ve come to understand there’s good reason for that. I see now that a dog’s short lifespan is a great gift indeed. A reality check and constant reminder. To live fully. To go after your dreams. To do it now without delay, because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.

For two years I wasn’t  whole. My passion had diminished and my zest for life was put on hold. Then my life changed again. An amazing moment of impact in the form of a black ball of love set me on a new journey. This is where the story of Kraig and Kane begins. My days leading up meeting Kane were filled with every “Lab Dad” emotion possible. Anxious and excited I instinctively knew I was about to embark on something remarkable.

Kraig meets Kane – The instant I met Kane my life changed. Within seconds he gave me puppy kisses and let me kiss his paw pads. You could call it love at first sight. Today I am happy to share with you that our 4 years have been nothing less than remarkable. We spend our days on the Campus of Loyola University, our weekends in the woods, our evenings spent playing the piano and helping dad work.  Most importantly, we are living each day to the fullest, chasing dreams, loving and living life with unmatched enthusiasm. We both will be forever grateful to Love of Labs for helping our life paths cross.

I’m a happy dad. He is a happy boy. Which leaves us with…. One “Happy Tail.”

The first grapes were planted in 2000, with more to follow in subsequent years. The vineyards now cover 12 acres of the family’s 600-acre farm. On the remainder, more than 50,000 bushels of corn and soybeans are still raised each year. With expanding vineyards taking root, an aging barn with great potential, and the desire to share our love of fine wines, the decision was quickly made to open our own winery right here on the farm.

Enjoy a family and dog friendly environment that offers wine and hard cider.

Music Provided by Heartstone Crossing

Heartstone Crossing bringing you classic rock since it was just rock! Formed as a high school band in 1970, Ted Mau, Bill Roberts, and John DeLuca played in what was then known as the Stones Crossing Band, playing local sock hops and battle of the bands. After high school the group went their separate ways playing in various bands until getting back together for their 40 year Greenwood High School Reunion. Having such a good time playing together again they started to put together a new band. Kat Fettig and Todd Mitchell played over the years and joined the band in 2017 to rock Indy. Heavy on the 60’s and 70’s with some 50’s and even some of today’s music, Heartstone Crossing brings a fun show that will bring back memories of the music you grew up with. Sit back on a blanket and relax or get up and show off your dance moves – either way Heartstone Crossing has you covered!
