We find FOREVER
homes to ensure that our dogs will NEVER return to
any shelter ever AGAIN! We
have
584 dogs adopted into wonderful forever homes! If you
want to help LOLIN help the unwanted, unloved, abused &/or
neglected Labs, please consider fostering or donate to us via check or money order to LOLIN,
PO Box 237, Noblesville, IN 46061-0237.
Thank you.
There are so very many labs
and lab mixes dying daily at Indiana's shelters for space ONLY!
We are desperate for
FOSTERS,
the most rewarding 'job' in dog rescue. If money
is the only reason that you cannot foster, please contact us at
foster@lolin.org ASAP.
WE ENCOURAGE you to speak with
some of our current fosters ......we have a few volunteers that have
fostered more than 30 dogs (and that is fostering our Labs 1 at a time,
never more than 2 in a foster home at once!) We do not 'warehouse'
our dogs, all are in family environments!

Subject: OHIO RESIDENTS - ACTION NEEDED - HERE'S OUR CHANCE TO REPEAL OHIO'S BREED SPECIFIC LEGISLATION
House Bill 79, the proposed bill to remove the language in the Ohio Revised Code deeming pit bull dogs vicious merely by their appearance, is SET FOR HEARING ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14, 2010 AT 9:30 A.M. in the Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio, Rm. 18.
This is the hearing for supporters of the bill to speak. You do not need to speak but you MUST be in attendance. We need the room to be overflowing with supporters.
If you choose to speak, please do not discuss how wonderful your dog is or how much you love the dogs. This content does not generally convince the representatives to vote in favor of the dogs. Please keep your testimony short and to the point and PLEASE MAKE SURE ANY AND ALL TESTIMONY IS POLITE, EDUCATIONAL AND RESPECTFUL!!!!
Please dress to impress. Do not wear shorts, jeans or tees. Business casual is appropriate.
I know this is short notice but YOU MUST BE PRESENT. THIS IS OUR CHANCE TO STOP THE DISCRIMINATION AGAINST US AND OUR DOGS!!!

INDIANA UPDATE FROM the Human Society of the
U.S.
Im very sorry to
report that our
bill, or language,
technically, died
Wednesday night
when the
Senator Brent
Steele refused
to allow his
caucus to sign the
conference
committee report.
To recap: the
bill, HB 1258,
would have
required people to
provide their
horses with
shelter, required
pet store
disclosure & would
have made it a
felony to attend
an animal fight.
The bill itself
officially died
several weeks ago,
when the chair of
the Senate
Committee (again,
Senator Steele) to
which it was
assigned, failed
to schedule it for
a hearing. The
deadline for a
hearing came &
went & the bill
was officially
dead.
However, because
the language
passed one chamber
(the House of
Representatives,
with a vote of
71-26) it was
eligible to be
amended into
another bill, so
we still had some
options. The
legislature is
scheduled to end
this week & we had
already tried
amending another
bill, to no avail.
In a final
attempt, we tried
to amend just the
animal fighting
language into a
bill yesterday & 3
of the 4 conferees
from the
conference
committee were
ready to sign the
committee report,
to allow it to
move forward,
when Senator
Steele objected &
refused to allow
the Republican
Senator assigned
to the committee
to sign the
report. If all 4
conferees do not
sign the
conference
committee report,
the bill is dead.
Its obviously
incredibly
unfortunate that
not even the
animal fighting
language made it
through this year,
due to the
objections of
essentially one
legislator.
This is
particularly
frustrating in
light of the
August 2009
dogfighting raid
in Orange County,
Indiana, in which
109 dogs were
seized from
deplorable &
inhumane
conditions.
As always,
Representative
Linda Lawson, the
sponsor of the
bill, was a true
advocate for the
animals in Indiana
and did absolutely
everything she
could to try and
get this through.
Please take a
moment to contact
her and thank her
for her tireless
efforts to protect
the animals
Indiana. She
can be reached via
email at:
h1@in.gov
or via phone at:
1-800-382-9842.
If you would like,
you can also take
a moment to call
or email
Senator Steeles
Office & voice
your displeasure
with him for
killing, for the 5th
time, a provision
that would have
made it a felony
to attend an
animal fight in
Indiana.
With his refusal
to support this
common-sense
legislation, he is
consistent in his
support of those
who participate in
the blood sport of
animal fighting,
and has secured
yet another win
for the
dogfighters in
Indiana.
Senator Steele can
be reached via
email at:
s44@in.gov
or via phone at:
(317) 232-9814.
On a happier note,
Representative
Lawson also
introduced a
resolution to
declare October 1st
Adopt a Shelter
Pet Day in
Indiana.
Thankfully, this
resolution passed
overwhelmingly.
Thanks so much to
each and every one
of you who made
phone calls and
sent emails
throughout these
past few months!
Best,

HAPPY TAILS
Junior
Fitzpatrick

It's hard to believe,
but one family kept Junior for a week and returned him
because they thought he was a Pit Bull......I am
certain he is an English Lab, and a purebred at that.
We ask all families to keep the relatively quiet at
first, the dogs need several weeks to adjust to the
big change from a shelter to a foster and to their
forever home relatively quick... The family tried to
socialize him too quickly, he needed more reassurance
and that is what he got with his wonderful 'Dad' Bob.
Their loss was Bob's good fortune....

ANNIE
All is well with
Annie. We absolutely love
having her in our lives, and I think
she is equally happy to be with us.

MISS NOEL IN HER NEW WONDERFUL HOME
& AS PART OF THE McDONALD FAMILY!
A quick update on "The Princess".
The attached photo shows how much she enjoys watching
TV on our bed with the grandgirls - Kendra and Aubrey.
We've discovered she can get up on the green leather
chair all by herself. When we're here she demands to
be helped up onto the couch. This weekend we need to
find her a floss toss tug toy so we can play some.
She chases a tennis ball around some and doesn't like
to give it back so a tug toy is a must. Last Sunday
she got bored so we wandered out in the snow to the
horse barn. She and Rebel had a nice nose to nose
visit. Jake seems to be connecting more with her -
actually touching her while they sleep on our bed.
Maurice (our dog loving cat) also sleeps close to her
at night. We're having a great time! Thanks bringing
her into our lives.

To My Foster Mom and Dad
There I sat, alone and afraid,
You got a call and came right to my aid.
You bundled me up with blankets and love.
And, when i needed it most, you gave me a hug.
I learned that the world was not all that scary and cold.
That sometimes there is someone to have and to hold.
You taught me what love is, you helped me to mend.
You loved me and healed me and became my first friend.
And just when I thought you'd done all you do,
There came along not one new lesson, but two.
First you said, "Sweetheart, you're ready to go.
I've done all I can, and you've learned all I know."
Then you bundled me up with a blanket and kiss.
Along came a new family, they even have kids!
They took me to their home, forever to stay.
At first I thought you sent me away.
Then that second lesson became perfectly clear.
No matter how far, you will always be near.
And so, Foster Mom, you know I've moved on.
I have a new home, with toys and a lawn.
But I'll never forget what I learned that first day.
You never really give your fosters away.
You gave me these thoughts to remember you by.
We may never meet again, and now I know why.
You'll remember I lived with you for a time.
I may not be yours, but you'll always be mine.

Prior Special Needs dogs that have been adopted
and HELPED financially by YOU!
Thanks to you, LOLIN pulled all
these dogs and found loving forever homes for them.
Love of Labs has a
wonderful reputation of taking in dogs that MOST rescues wouldn't dare,
such as Duffy, Quigley, Mimi, Shamus and Abbey, to name a few. We plan
on continuing to do so, with your help.
Please
consider donating to help the needy Labs such as Chance, Roscoe, Talen,
Quinn & any of the other many dogs that we have helped. Love of Labs
does more than many other rescues, we try to help all Lab and Lab mixes,
even if they aren't LOLIN's dogs. We particularly love to help the
Senior, the sick/injured, the BIG BLACK, & the Heartworm positive as well
as the Special Needs Labs & Lab mixes.
If you want to feel like you've
helped, truly helped and save a dog's life,
please mail a check or money order to LOLIN, PO Box 237, Noblesville, IN
46061-0237, adopt or FOSTER. You, too, can make a difference!
Heartworm treatment is very
expensive. The dogs must remain calm and quiet for a few weeks
after treatment to prohibit any health issues that may arise. If
you have ever wanted to help animals, please consider fostering a
Heartworm positive dog! (It is so easy, as they need crated for
24/7 pretty much, the first 2 or 3 weeks!) Help us save a life,
foster one of these furbabies.
But, remember, we can't save
them all, especially without your donations! It is quite evident
that the economy is doing poorly, many more dogs are at the shelters
and being dumped EVERYDAY, especially if the dog is sick or injured
(just when they need the love of their owners most). Labs CRAVE
humans, plain and simple. It is cruel to deprive them of human
contact, as they are at shelters simply due to most of the shelters
being understaffed.
LOLIN and these Special
Needs dogs THANK YOU so very much, we really couldn't do it without
your help!
Thank you and your donation is tax deductible, as we are a 501(c)3
non-profit PUBLIC CHARITY per IRS tax rules.
